UAV TESTS TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY OF UTILITY INFRASTRACTURE INSPECTIONS
Chesapeake, VA, December 5, 2014– HAZON Solutions (HAZON), the leading provider of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle training and management consulting has received approval from the FAA through an official Certificate of Waiver and Authorization (COA) to begin testing of an sUAV applications at a Virginia Tech Test Site.
“HAZON Solutions is the first commercial company approved by the FAA to test the use of small unmanned aerial vehicles (sUAV) to inspect utility infrastructure in Virginia. It is very exciting as we help chart the path in this exciting new frontier” stated HAZON CEO, David Culler.
The research conducted during these tests is expected to increase the safety and lower the costs of inspections, which are vital to the energy security of Virginia and the country. The training and procedures used during these tests will be based on the HAZON team’s U.S. Navy aviation and engineering principles.
